On Deck With Dani

The Big 32!

Where has August gone!?!  And in fact – where has the whole year gone!  Can’t believe we are coming into September already, what a whirlwind of a year it has been.  So much of a whirlwind that I almost forgot I turn 32 on Friday! 32!! Madness!  So anyway, we decided we wanted to do something a bit different this year for my birthday, other than spending the day at home, so have booked to go to Bristol.  We travel up to Bristol on Friday morning, and stay overnight in the Radisson Blu hotel, and then we are going to Bristol Zoo!  Now, bare in mind we only live 2 hours away from Bristol (over the bridge), but have yet to visit Bristol Zoo, we have done London and Edinburgh so this will be a different experience for us.

W then have vouchers for a 3 course lunch which we will use Saturday before heading home, then it will be an early night for me Saturday (even though the rugby is on), as I have to be up early Sunday morning to head to Cardiff, as I am taking part in the Cardiff 10k run.  I am looking forward to it but nervous at the same time.  I have done 10K’s before but the Race For Life which is more of a “fun run”, whereas this race is a proper timed race, and my Bib Number came through the other day, and the butterflies properly kicked in!  I will have a couple of supporters there pulling me over the finish line, my sister, my niece and my wife will be coming up with me to cheer me on!

Then if that isn’t enough punishment, I then have the Swansea Bay 10k on the 22nd September! As mad as it may seem to run 10k, you do get the buzz and the excitement, so I am constantly on the lookout for other runs throughout the year for next year, before my ultimate challenge to date – I have been accepted to race the Swansea Half Marathon in July 2020 – talk about jumping in head first!

Do you do any running or races?  Keep out for my next blog to find out how I got on!
