On Deck With Dani

Hello 2019!

Family celebrating Christmas for many years together

Happy New Year to all my customers old and new.  And welcome to my first blog of 2019.  How has your year started – well I hope.  I am doing dry January this year and I will stick to it this year, as I had a blip towards the end of the month last year.  Have you got any New Years resolutions that you are determined to stick to?

That brings me on to my resolution, well sort of.  My plan is to spend more time with my wife, as we both have quite demanding jobs, so therefore our days off together never match.  So we have made a pact, to try and get at least one day off a week, and do something, even if it is to take the dog to the park or the beach.  Also, we are saving to buy a new house – at 31, I think it’s about time I got on the property ladder, so will keep you up to date with any progress there.  Other than that, I have decided this year, I am going to become a better me.  And it does sound cliche, but every year I have been saying to myself, I need to lose weight and get down to a healthier weight, but I never seem to stick to it.  So I have decided, this year is the year I stick to it.  I have already created meal plans for weeks in advance (just need to get the ingredients), and just generally start living a healthier lifestyle.    As recently, I have had a really bad chest infection, so have had to take a step back from my rugby at the moment, as can’t quite do the running without coughing up a lung.  So this has definitely given me the kick up the rear end, so I can improve my health.  And rather than having all the focus on my weight, I will just focus on being healthier, and the weight will slowly drop off on its own.  Hence the dry January this month, it is far too easy for me to go to a rugby match and have a quick pint or 2 after the game, or go for a night out with the girls.  It soon adds up.  And already just cutting out the beer (my drink of choice), I have already dropped around 4lbs from Christmas and New Year.

So fingers crossed this is the year that I stick to my own resolutions, let me know what yours are and if you have stopped already or still going.
