Our Summer Holiday in Playa Blanca

We have just returned from a lovely week away in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote.  I went there with my partner Darryl and our 3 children as well as other family members.  We had a lovely time and enjoyed perfect weather!  It was about mid-twenties all week which was perfect for enjoying the sunshine whilst not being too hot.  We stayed by the Rubicon Marina at the Rubimar aparthotel.  We decided to book an apartment, so we could enjoy the rest of the resort too and afford some days out as well as for the space as it was 5 of us sharing.  The kids had a great time in the large pool swimming around and splashing down the slide!

The marina area in Playa Blanca is beautiful and we enjoyed a couple of lovely meals there.  It also has a great market twice a week.  The rest of the week we walked along to Playa Dorada beach or to Playa Blanca centre for dinner.  There were so many options of lovely restaurants, bars and beach bars.  The walk down the promenade was very pleasant with beautiful views.  The kids especially enjoyed meeting the many cats who lived along the promenade.  They all had cat homes with their pictures and names on!

We would have loved to go to Timanfaya National park and see the Volcanoes, but the children weren’t keen.  Instead we had a day out at Rancho Texas in Puerto del Carmen.  A fantastic Zoo Park with animal shows and a waterpark.  Our highlight of this was the Sea Lion show.  They were amazing!  We also visited Aqua lava in Playa Blanca.  This is small but great for under 10-year olds!  They have a lazy river, wave pool, 5 large flumes and a splash pool with slides.  This was quite pricey but worth it for the excitement the kids got out of flying down the flumes and the lazy river especially!

I would recommend Playa Blanca for families and couples.  It has a great number of bars and restaurants and a more upmarket feel to it than the standard resort.  The beaches are beautiful and it’s perfect for long walks down the promenade.
