NCL Crew member shot

A crew member from NCL Pearl was shot dead last night while the ship was in Roatan, Honduras, apparently he was on his way back to the ship when he was approached by a lone gun man. He had his mobile phone and money stolen.

I worked on ships for many years and never felt in any danger when I would be walking around the different ports of call, I spent many safe times in Roatan. However apparently this part of the world is the most dangerous place in South America.

“Honduras is rated the number 1 murder country in Central America for a reason.  . . . People, just remember this, anyone who lives there or owns property there is going to paint you a rosy picture of this place because they can’t leave or they have their money invested there. Avoid Roatan.”

As a fellow crew member I send my deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
