ROYAL CARIBBEAN CANCELLATION POLICY UPDATE

Good morning cruisers,

Just a quick update this week on the new updated terms of cancellation for all Royal Caribbean cruises booked from 8th April this year, this shouldn’t be taken as a negative just something I feel it is important to be aware of.

As ever cruise line do update their terms and conditions once in a while and this time round it is Royal Caribbean that have tightened the terms under which a passenger would only lose their deposit.

Old and New terms are as follows:

Cruises of 1 to 4 Nights

Old Terms:

Cancelled 74 to 43 days – Loss of deposit

Cancelled  42 to 29 days out – 50% Cancellation fee

Cancelled 28 to 15 days out – 75% Cancellation fee

Cancelled 14 days or less – 100% Cancellation fee

New Terms:

Cancelled 74 to 61 days out – 50% Cancellation fee

Cancelled 60 to 31 days out – 75% Cancellation fee

Cancelled 30 days or less  – 100% Cancellation fee

Cruises of 5 Nights or more

Old Terms:

Cancelled 89 to 57 days – Loss of deposit

Cancelled  56 to 29 days out – 50% Cancellation fee

Cancelled 28 to 15 days out – 75% Cancellation fee

Cancelled 14 days or less – 100% Cancellation fee

New Terms:

Cancelled 89 to 75 days  out – 25% Cancellation fee

Cancelled  74 to 61 days out – 50% Cancellation fee

Cancelled  60 to 31 days out – 75% Cancellation fee

Cancelled 30 days or less  – 100% Cancellation fee

Effectively Royal Caribbean have introduced a new 25% cancellation band where as previous cancellation terms didn’t have this band at all.  As previously mentioned it should not be taken as a negative but just something to be mindful, there may always be a reason as to why you may need to cancel a cruise, it is always worth speaking to your travel agent before making such a modification to your booking as there may well be other avenues that can be utilized – such as moving your money paid over to a new cruise and paying a small admin fee so that the money already paid is simply taken off of the balance of a new cruise, bear in mind this can only be done with a new cruise with the same cruise line. Always ask your agent as we will always know the up to date  terms and will be able to advise accordingly!

Most importantly ….Keep on cruising!
