TO VISA OR NOT TO VISA? THAT IS THE QUESTION?

So this week we had the awful news feeding back to us that a fair amount of UK passengers were being turn away from China on arrival in Beijing.  No reason given, just being denied entry to the country.

Most of our customers here at Cruise.co.uk were having 2 or 3 nights in Beijing before embarking on the Quantum of the Seas ship from Beijing to Singapore for 12 nights.

As you can imagine this is a holiday of a lifetime for our customers.  Arranging your holiday at least a year in advance, making sure you have travel insurance, full UK British passports with at least 6 months validity on your return date and of course a travel Visa for China.

Well the Visa seems to be the problem.  Here at Cruise.co.uk we are not able to advise on specific visa requirements, we would always recommend speaking with a specialist visa company and keep checking the FCO website for up to date travel information.

Currently China do offer a 144 Hour transit Visa for UK passport holders.  You can enter the country but must leave for another country within the 144 hours. This is classed as a transit visa you can get on arrival at Beijing.  However for some unknown reason (there was a lot of speculation) we are still not sure the exact reason for so many customers being denied access to the country.

Royal Caribbean were fantastic, they had arranged for the Japanese port of Fukuoka to be an embarkation port for guests who were denied entry at Beijing.  Our fab team here at Cruise.co.uk  were all hands on deck and readily available to assist our customers and other passengers who needed help in finding flights to Japan, with some extra accommodation.

So, going forward the best advice we are currently giving is for all passengers to obtain a full Chinese visa for any travel to this country.  Please do keep up to date on all entry requirements not just for China but for any country in the world as if visas are required it is a customer responsibility to ensure you have these for travel.
