By the time you’re reading this, I will be hard at work at our company conference!
Last year we were in ‘sunny’ Butlins in Skegness (it snowed heavily that weekend). This year we will be onboard Marco Polo for 3 nights sailing from Bristol to Dublin and back again and hopefully, the seas and the weather will be kinder to us.
So a few weeks ago I wrote about the first couple of days sailing on the Yangtze.
A few miles into Fenjie County, on the northern bank of the Yangtze River is Baidi City (White Emperor City), also called Baidi Temple. It is located on Baidi Mountain at the mouth of Qutang Gorge, one of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.
This was certainly a summer to remember – with temperatures reaching heights of 30 degrees plus, it was, at times a struggle for both the young and the mature!
I have just returned from my favourite ‘magical’ destination, Orlando in Florida. This was my 15th trip and it still didn’t disappoint me.
I didn’t go with any children this time so it was a very different experience. I didn’t need to be up at the crack of dawn to get to the parks first thing. We had a plan and this changed from time to time, but we relaxed in our villa then started our day around mid-morning.
As you know I have recently returned from a fact-finding trip for our ‘Grand Tour of China’ Bucket List package.
I have already blogged about Beijing, the Great Wall, the Walled City of Pingyao and the Pandas of Chengdu!
We left Xi’an on the early morning Bullet Train and arrived in Chengdu around 12:30 and taken straight to lunch.
Again, this was another ‘Lazy Susan’ experience but with ‘spicy’ dishes, not many of which were to the liking of our group. I must say it was probably one of my least favourite meals.
From Beijing, we headed to Pingyao, a small Ancient city in the central Shanxi region in China. It is famed for its well-preserved Ming an Qing urban planning and architecture. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and dates back to circa 800 BC and is an AAAAA-rated tourist attraction.
My previous blog two weeks ago set the scene for our popular ‘Bucket List’ package for 2019.
Over the next weeks, I will be sharing my experiences with you.
I and six colleagues flew to Beijing to start our 12-day Escorted Tour of China, each with a different brief.
This time tomorrow (14 August) I will be at Heathrow ready to board my flight to Beijing.
I cannot wait to join my colleagues for this once in a lifetime experience. I feel very fortunate and extremely lucky to be chosen as part of a fact-finding team to China!
