Who? I hear some of you say..
Marella is the recently rebranded name of Thomson Cruises or Tui Cruises to give them another name.
There are currently five ships in the Marella Cruises fleet, Marella Dream, Marella Celebration, Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2 and Marella Spirit. New ship Marella Explorer will begin sailing in summer 2018.
So back to the point in hand
Firstly in 2019, they will welcome the adult only Explorer 2 into their fleet, she will be tailored to meet the needs of couples, friends and groups by doubling the size of The Veranda featured on Marella Explorer. The 1,814 capacity ship will offer 907 cabins, of which nearly 40 percent have balconies. She will homeport in Napes.
New cabin types on Marella Explorer 2 include the Royal Suite which measures 102m2 featuring a separate bedroom, dressing room, dining area and whirlpool bath. The new ship also features deluxe balcony cabins boasting some of the best sea views. Currently sailing as SkySea Golden Era for SkySea Cruise Line in China, this sister ship to Mein Schiff 1.
The whole fleet will become All Inclusive from next year, following on the success of The Discovery and Explorer.
I understand the Spirit will leave the fleet but the Marella Dream and Marella Celebration will join the rest of the fleet in becoming All Inclusive as standard – this includes Tips.
I am always impressed with the Marella itineraries in addition to the fact they offer lots of flight options and they are expanding their already fantastic options with some great additions including Skagen in Denmark, Castellon in Spain, Norway’s Alta and Santa Margherita in Italy.
Marella is definitely an option to consider when looking for your next cruise, the All Inclusive aspect is a real winner in my mind, but not only that the cruises are very relaxed and easy going and entertainment is excellent.
