Edge to Europe

You may have heard the excitement over the last few months about Celebrity Cruises new ship Celebrity Edge.

Hailed as the Most innovative ship and a ship designed to leave the future behind, she is due for launch in 2019.

The Great news is that this week Celebrity cruises announced that she will be sailing in Europe when launched.  She will home port in Barcelona and Rome, oh and her maiden cruise will be from SOUTHAMPTON….yes thats right she will be sailing from right here in the UK.  The sailing will be a 10-night cruise to Rome on May 15th 2019, although I have to wonder whether they will release some Mini Cruises before that (I will be surprised if they do not).

dditionally, Edge will:

-Sail two new ports for Celebrity: Nauplion, Greece (11-night) and Santa Margherita, Italy (10-night)

-Offer longer stay in ports including Ibiza, Monte Carlo, Naples

-Call in at 30 ports in 10 countries and offer five overnights

A few things which will make this ship truly spectacular are :

Infinite Balcony’s :  New Edge Staterooms feature an Infinite Balcony – touch a button and your entire living space becomes the balcony, letting you walk right out to the water’s edge.

Rooftop Garden :  Discover The Rooftop Garden. Full of unexpected pleasures day and night, this living urban playscape is inspired by childhood playgrounds. Catch a movie at A Taste of Film; dance the night away to a live band; or dine at the Rooftop Garden Grill.

Magic Carpet : he size of a tennis court, and reaching heights of 13 storeys above sea level, it is the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform. Majestically situated on the starboard side of Celebrity Edge, it is designed with comfortable seating, a full bar, and space for live music performances – so it truly is a destination itself. This spectacular space opens to several decks and transforms into a new and exciting venue depending on where it’s positioned.  This is the thing I am most looking forward to seeing / experiencing.

Eden : Eden is unlike anything at sea – or anywhere. With three levels of sensory experiences, fully encased in glass and looking out to the ocean, it is a true window to the world. Where nature is effortlessly intertwined with design and performance art.

Sounds Great doesn’t it? I cant wait to see the ship in more detail.  In the meantime take a look at the ship here:
