What’s Your Cabin Preference ?

Where is the best place to be is a question often asked by my customers who are new to cruise. Whilst those who have cruised often usually have a preference as to where they want to be.

Some prefer to be near the front or forward as it’s called and some prefer the back or aft, then there’s those who won’t book anything other than mid ship. There are also those who will take a guarantee stateroom and hope for the best. This can sometimes be a good option if your not too picky and you can hit lucky or on the other hand be close to a noisy lift under a busy restaurant or lively bar.

Which deck? It’s not always the cabins at the top of the ship that are the best for the motion they say the more you pay the more you sway.. so if you are prone to motion sickness your better off being mid ship on a lower deck. I would also recommend to choose a cabin between decks without facilities above or below you so to experience less noise.

So do you then go inside outside balcony or push the boat out for a suite… it all depends on what you think is good value to you. Even if the budget warrants you may prefer to pay less and have more cruises. There are people who couldn’t go without a window or a balcony then those who try a balcony love it but can’t justify paying the extra. So the inside and outside tend to be a similar size just one has a window or porthole so gets natural light. Balcony cabins tend to again be a similar size however with a patio door leading to a private balcony with table and chairs. It’s a lovely experience being able to sit and read or just watch the world go by. Suites come with lots of options depending on the cruise line you can even get suites with private gardens jacuzzi in the balcony to a piano in some of the owners suites

On some cruise lines such as Celebrity and Cunard to name but a few. Depending on what type of cabin you book, this will determine which restaurant you dine in. So on Cunard the main restaurant is the Britannia restaurant and the majority of cabins will have this as their main dining room. Alternatively if you choose a suite there is the Princess grill and Queens Grill these are smaller more intimate restaurants. All restaurants are of a fantastic standard so don’t think you would feel left out. Celebrity has a similar concept you stay in a aqua suite or a suite again having a smaller more intimate restaurant to dine in. I sailed on Celebrity Equinox this year and ate in the main dining room and couldn’t fault It from the setting down to the service.

I’m sure you will soon decide what you prefer in cabin choice and location after all we all like different things I’ve always gone for the balcony cabin however for my next sailing we have gone for an inside. I’m sure you will be hearing all about it next year when I return
