How will you spend yours?

Often as an incentive to book early many of the cruise lines will offer you large amounts of on board credit to spend whilst on board their ships.  Now as many of you know I normally book late and on a saver fare so never receive any on board credit but what can you actually spend it on whilst you are on board and is it possible to spend it all.

So for this blog I have decided to look at what NCL has to offer as they have started their campaign to entice early bookers and are offering amounts from $250 on board credit for the cabin  (if you booked an Ocean view or balcony cabin) and up to $1000 if you book a Suite or Haven Suite. So apart from buying gifts/clothes etc in the ships shops or buying photos in the gallery – here are a few other ideas:

Chef’s table: This costs $99 per person and will get you an Intimate, once-in-a-lifetime gourmet dining experience (maximum of 12 people)  – which consists of 9 courses (can anyone really eat 9 courses in one go?) All courses are accompanied by wines that are specially paired by the  Master Sommelier, a behind the scenes galley tour (I did this on an MSC cruise an was so interesting) and not forgetting the photo with the executive chef.

Ultimate Dining package: Dine in a specialty restaurant every night of your cruise, and pre purchasing this package will give you a saving of 20% of the cover charges.

The Ultimate Beverage Package: In this package you can enjoy a selection of soft drinks, beers, spirits, cocktails and wines by the glass every day of the entire cruise for only $54 per person, per night. If you have children travelling with you then you could spend the money on the soft drink package for $6.50 per person per night and will give unlimited soft  drinks – Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Diet Sierra Mist,  Mt. Dew, Root Beer, Club Soda, Ginger Ale andTonic Water. Drinks container is included

Spa:  buy a day package or week package and relax on the mosaic lounge chairs, in the thalasso therapy pool, steam room and sauna, use the Japanese plunge pool or jacuzzi’s, or just treat yourself to a treatment.

Book some shore excurisons and visit places you might not get to if going independently

For me I would spend my $1000 dollars easily on board (and that is quite a scary thought) I would definitely buy the Ultimate Beverage package as I do like a cocktail by the pool during the day and a glass of wine in the evening, the chef’s table experience sounds a fantastic evening and would be great for a celebration and also would purchase the spa passes so can relax in the Japanese plunge pool.

How would you spend yours? Would love to hear your thoughts.
