Let the kids vote!

The controversial issue of whether those under the age of eighteen should be afforded a voice when it comes to deciding where to go on holiday is a question of parental preference…

I must admit as a mum of two young travellers under the legal voting age, whilst my husband and I tend to look at the options together in the first instance, we do in fact involve the children in the final decision making process.

With our son about to turn eleven, and our daughter nine-going-on-nineteen, holidays with Mum & Dad are precious times to create memories whilst the children are still young enough to be happy holidaying with us… and with the added expense of travelling during prime holiday periods, it’s important that we pick wisely.

Having worked in travel for many years, and having now holidayed many times with children of my own, I am a firm believer in the notion that ‘if the kids are happy, Mum & Dad are happy’…, however that does not mean I want to spend all of our annual leave at home playing Fortnite & making glitter slime!

…and when it comes to choosing a holiday for the family, although we have children and want them to have a holiday they enjoy, as adults we also need to feel relaxed and rejuvenated, so when it comes to family holiday choices there’s a lot to consider.

With our first family holiday breaking the bank and under-delivering on the holiday satisfaction scale, we looked at ways to get more out of our holidays and stumbled upon the ever expanding range of all-inclusive family cruise packages…

These packages often include heavily discounted school holiday flights which are at rock-bottom rates when combined with a cruise package… and because all meals, drinks & snacks are prepaid, there are no nasty hidden extras, ensuring your holiday spending money can be used for more interesting purchases like shore excursions or souvenirs.

Many families find that the opportunity to visit many different ports of call on the same trip means there truly is something for everyone, and at dinner it’s wonderful how the kids chat excitedly about family adventures and plans for the following day… the shore excursions in particular, are a fabulous way to create family memories to last a lifetime.

On board of course the wealth of facilities ensure that everyone is entertained, whether it be together as a family, or the kids enjoying the onboard kids activities whilst parents enjoy a little adult time to relax and unwind.

When it comes to family holidays, cruising gets the highest votes from the kids and the adults!
