Josephine’s ‘Wright’ On Cruising

Photos on board ” to click or not to click! ”

I have been on board several different cruise company ships, and I have to say ”Why are the photos so expensive!! ”

So when do we click ourselves and when do we let the professionals take over??

I think we spent £150 on 5 pictures from specialist photographers that only printed when you ordered from a portfolio on screen, so no waste there then. I suppose they are very good photos but even so £150 is such a lot of money.

This was the black and white night on Britannia.

The question is,was it worth £30 just for this 8 x 10 that will probably never come out of the draw??

I personally would rather pay less and buy a disc with the pictures on. We actually got a disc with the pictures we bought on it, Why they could not add the others to the disc I do not know. At least then I would have felt value for money. I think I may suggest that next time , I will buy 3 if you give me all of them on a disc or let me down load onto my storage device. I think click with your own camera might be in order.

I have a printer, so I could print myself or take the disc to Boots etc.. and ask them to print. Also useful for if you want to use pics for cards or calenders at Christmas.

This of course was worth the money I love it and have in my office above my computer.

I have taken some lovely pictures too that are well worth framing and now my husband has discovered photo shop its amazing what you can do.

I also have travelled on Fred Olsen and for 1 picture it was £10 , there was in actual fact 6 different pics with me on , so £60 for them all. they were already printed and would probably go in the bin, why not wait till last night and sell them off cheap. As it happens I didn’t buy any because they were so expensive and settled for one of my own !

Got to love the 70’s

Even whilst on board Royal Caribbean the price for a 8 x 10 was over £25 equivalent in dollars. I can never understand why they don’t realise less is more! they would sell more if they charged less. I asked a cruise rep once why they were so expensive and all I got in reply was they rent space from the ships ,we don’t set their prices, but do they realise that it reflects on them.

So to sum up, Always click yourself and say no when asked on board , because once you see them you will want them. set a budget or only have your photo taken professionally on a special night. Take plenty of pics yourself, upload a really easy to use photo editor on your laptop and then start making your own creations, much cheaper and saves your on board credit for Spas etc…….
