It will be all change for Thomson Cruises when their parent company rebrands this month and the cruise line will change their name.
Thomson are rebranding as Tui which is a name they have been using across a few elements of their portfolio over the last few years but is being rolled out across the whole of Thomson now but the cruise line is being renamed as Marella Cruises.
The name which is Celtic in origin and means ‘Shining Sea’ has been chosen to portray the cruise lines spirit of exploration and discovery and the name is also being used in the names of the ships. The3 most recent ships to join the fleet. The Tui Explorer, Tui Discovery and Tui Discovery 2 will now be known as the Marella Explorer. Marella Discovery and Marella Discovery 2 and presumably the Thomson Spirit, Thomson Dream and Thomson Majesty will change their names too.
Marella will explore new destinations and as well as offering European, Middle East and Caribbean cruises, they will now also sail to the Far East. The Marella Dicsovery will sail from Bangkok, Thailand and and Langkawi, Malaysia and cisist such ports as Vietnam, Cambodia and Kuala Lumpur. She will also offer sailings to India calling in at Mumbai, Goa, Kerala and Colombo in Sri Lanka.
These really are exciting times for the cruise line. With the purchase of the Discovery and Discovery 2, Thomson have seen sales soar. They offer flights from 22 regional airports making their cruises easily accessible to everyone and pride themselves on night time sailings to give more day time in each port of call. Thomson really are shining at the moment and with this new name to reflect this they have a very rosy future.
