James' Cruise Jewels

You’re never too old

A senior couple enjoy lunch at Muizenberg Beach in Cape Town.

Which is apparently very true in the case of the British pensioners aged 70 & 72 who were arrested on-board the Marco Polo, for allegedly trying to smuggle £2 million pounds  worth of cocaine into Europe in their 4 suitcases. The couple apparently blended in very well with the rest of the other passengers who would have had no idea the secret this couple were hiding.

This got me thinking why would this couple risk spending their twilight years in jail? Could they have been doing this for someone else or maybe it was something strange they had on their bucket list!

Now I’ve got things I would love to do in my lifetime but drug smuggling certainly isn’t one! So if there is one thing that you would love to see or do, what would it be?

For me I want to see my children’s faces as we walk through the gates of Magic Kingdom inside Walt Disney World and see Cinderella Castle for the first time. Memories that can stay with me forever. I certainly won’t be wanting to remember those special memories locked away spending the rest of my life wondering why did I do that. This is certainly a story I will be keeping an eye on and hopefully finding out the answer to the question, why did they do it!?

As for the Marco Polo, this just happens to be the ship we board this week for our work conference. I am really looking forward to seeing the ship as I haven’t been on a Cruise & Maritime vessel before so can’t wait to see what it’s like. One thing I’m not looking forward to is the fancy dress night. I was until I found out we would be having our evening meal dressed up. Why you might ask…….all will be revealed in my next blog!
