Recharging the Batteries in Ibiza

So after weeks of failing to find a suitable cruise that would accommodate my 1 year old son we settled on a weeks getaway to Ibiza and it didn’t disappoint. Having not been away since I fell pregnant with our son we have only holidayed as a family of 3 so I have been itching to get us all away together and have a bit of well deserved family time before our daughter starts school in September.

We stayed at a wonderfully family friendly hotel in Playa es Figueral on the North East side of the island, around a 30 minutue taxi ride from the airport. Complete with a huge water spraying pirate ship and crocodiles in a well thought out splash park and a beautiful setting in the bay the location was perfect for us. Not much outside of the hotel but plenty to keep us entertained on the large complex which consisted of two hotels, the Invisa Cala Verde and the Invisa Cala Blanca. We took a complimentary bus trip into Santa Eulalia for the day where we wandered the Spanish streets and strolled along the promenade lined with pavement cafes, tapas bars and restaurants to the pretty marina to watch the yachts meandering on the waves.

Aside from the fantastic weather and beautiful food it was just lovely for us all to be together for the week with no cares or the usual stresses of day to day. Far away from the daily grind of running a busy working household and the nursery run it was just what we needed to unwind and recharge. The kids had a fantastic time, especially Lexi our 4 year old who spent her week playing in the pool with another little girl she met, the only tears we had all week was when it was time to get out and get ready for the evening meal which makes a nice change from the daily melt downs at home!

Now we’re home and I have a mountain of washing and ironing to get through, but I am already on the hunt for our next break which will definitely be a cruise. Late holidays can often mean huge savings, but trying to secure a late deal cruise as a family with young children can prove difficult due to the restrictions many cruise lines have on the numbers of children they will have onboard at any one time so I will be booking earlier for next year.
