Back at work for a rest!!

Many of my clients will know (as I’m sure they’ve heard all about the tears and tantrums) that back in October last year my husband and I purchased ourselves a new build plot. The days and weeks seemed to drag by immensely as we watched our family home rise up from the foundations brick by brick. We had studded wall drama’s, a missing office, drainage in the wrong place and a few other little niggles which caused me on several occasions to have a mini melt down. It all came together in the end quite nicely and after 11 years of renting we now have our very own home.

Cue the next step of stressing….Packing. Moving. Kids ‘helping’ to pack and unpack and misbehaving once they got fed up. After 3 long days we were in. Then came the assembling of furniture, waiting for new furniture to arrive – some of it is in no mans land as the delivery firms ‘couldn’t find the address’. The joys of a new build on a new road situated in a village that no one has ever heard of!! Plus due to the terrible wet weather we have no turf on the lawn, so the dogs are happily padding around on the mud and bringing it all back in to my lovely new kitchen!!

The biggest gripe I have in all of this and this may be trivial to some…is the lack of broadband. I cant get any for love nor money. Sky reassured me that the move would go swimmingly. They would ‘simply’ disconnect the line in the old house and connect the line in the new house. Until the day came for the new line to go live of course and then it was ‘oh no sorry, no broadband available on the line.’After ringing what seems like every internet provider in the world I think we are sorted, but have to wait until the end of the month to get connected. What a pain. I love shutting off whilst I’m away but having to broadband in every day life is so frustrating. So I have a pop up office at my Mum’s house until I can get connected in my new office at home which is nice in a way as I have tea on tap and lunch brought to my desk 🙂

Apologies and thanks to my clients who have been patient whilst I have been off for the move and for also listening to me whinge on about builders and trades folk along the way, but you’ll be pleased to know that I am now back to work for a well deserved rest!!
