Independence and undoing my top button.

So here we have the final instalment of my Independence of the Seas tales. I promised I would tell you a little more about the new eateries onboard Indy since her spruce up and I can assure you, what she has to offer will not disappoint. I am ashamed to admit that whilst onboard for just 3 days I made it my mission to sample everything I could….and came home 5lb heavier!!! You may be thinking thats easy done, but honestly I was naughty. Lunch in Playmakers at around 1 and by 2.30 we were in Johnny Rockets eating a burger and washing it down with a dreamy milkshake! Its no wonder I had to keep the top button on my trousers unbuttened for most of the trip!!

Anyway less about my waist and more about the ship. The new eateries onboard are….

PlayMakers – a swanky new sports bar which shows all of our favourite sports on huge screens so you can munch on nachos and burgers whilst sipping a cold one watching your favourite Premier League team hit the back of the net (or not but you can always have another drink to take away the pain). The kids can bowl or slam dunk to their hearts content nearby as the oldies cheer England on to win the Ashes whilst participating in a hot wings challenge to win a tshirt.

Fish n Ships. Perfectly cooked Fish pieces, Calamari, Lobster roll or battered sausage with chips in a cute little cone to enjoy out on deck by the kids splash park if you get a little peckish. I tried the calamari by accident (trickery) but it was actually really nice! A portion will set you back an extra supplement of $9 and as the servings are quite small you may not visit that often but its definitely worth a try.

Sugar Beach Candy Store. Kids and big kids alike will have a field day. Rows and rows of sugary tastiness from lollies to laces, jelly beans to jelly tots. A little pricier than your average pick n mix but hey, you’re on holiday.

Izumi. The exotic Asian inspired speciality restaurant where you can watch your meal come together table side. Sadly I’m not a fan of teppanyaki but my fellow trippers sampled the offerings and said it was fantastic.

The old favourites are still of course on offer. Chops Grille for beautifully cooked dry-aged steaks and seafood, Johnny Rockets the all singing and all dancing (literally) American diner, a taste of Italy can still be found at Giovani’s Table, Windjammer – your extensive buffet restaurant, Sorrentos for a late night nibble or a huge slice of pizza.

The choice is yours….but whatever you do, make sure you try ALL OF IT. Even if you have to hide the scales when you come home 🙂
