A TABLE FOR 2 PLEASE, IS IT REALLY THAT SIMPLE???????

I know this subject has been touched upon over the years but now as we find ourselves firmly seated into the 21st century, has anything really changed when it comes to asking and being given a table for 2 on cruise ships. I think not is the answer and why should that be.

I have to admit that I am one of those customers that requests a table for 2 and why shouldn’t I? As a working mum with two grown up children doing their thing, whatever that may be I often ask myself, I am now finding time for a bit of romance. I am sure some of  you can appreciate the scenario of your first holiday away from the children, the freedom to do your own thing and the freedom to be able to sit where you like with your loved one after twenty years of marriage looking into each each others eyes , then wondering what to say to each other, well maybe the last bit was not really true but I am sure you can appreciate my point.

A customer phoned me yesterday with a similar experience, in his early seventies he wanted to book a Princess cruise for himself and his wife of 50 years. His only priority was a guaranteed table for two and as he was willing to pay £6000 for his cruise why not accomodate him.

The cruising industry seems to cater for all kinds of requests and requirements for the most discerning of customer and so it should, but has the simple request of a table for 2 been put to the bottom of the list when this means so much to many of us.

Another example is of a customer who booked a boomerang section of the world cruise with P&O at a mere cost of £30,000, his only request was a table for 2 and was correctly told it was on a request basis , so the gentleman refused to part with his retirement money and walked away, only for P&O to then guarantee his table size and the booking gladly went ahead.

So to be seated, is it time to make a stand and forgive cruise operators for allowing money to talk and start accomodating for the simple things in life.
