What is the cost of service?

I’m sure you will agree it is an interesting question “What is the cost of service?” It can have many meanings and have various prices depending on what it applies to. To me, as a customer I would always like to know what the charge is and what I am getting for my money and sometimes why does it apply?

I understand service charges on the cruise lines and Gratuities or tips as some call it, you can see the charge in advance and choose  to prepay this or wait and see what the service was like and give accordingly. I have no problem with this as I think we should have the option to choose.

I also have no problem with credit card fees as I know that as a business you do incur a charge so can see why that cost would need to be passed on to the consumer. In many cases we have to pay on credit cards as customers as we do not always have the funds to pay out of the bank. If you are lucky enough to be able to pay out of the bank I think it is only right you don’t get charged as it’s as good as paying cash and less costly for company’s to process.

What I really do have a problem with is company’s that charge a booking fee, especially when you do all the research on what you want, you find the product and then just get someone to process your transaction and charge you for the privilege, I’ve never agreed with this and don’t think I ever will.

My main point of  “what is the cost of service?” Is how much do you pay for advice and the processing of your cruise booking? I’m sure you would all like to know and I will answer the question a little later. The reason this has got me thinking is because at the moment I have been working on a lot of after sale queries, things like customers having their dream cruise cancelled due to the whole ship being chartered. In that case it’s my job to come up with a suitable alternative for the customer and see if I can get them another dream holiday, were they are not penalized financially and hopefully get them some compensation. Now this is not always an easy task especially if you have tailor made the holiday in the first place and have lots of separate elements that all need to fit together. Luckily the one I was working on I managed to get what I think is a better cruise option for the customer and get them an upgrade from an inside to an outside cabin and some US$ to spend on board and the rest of the package including flights all changed at no extra cost to the customer. The end result of all this was a very happy customer!

Now I’m sure if you have something booked and have a situation like this you would expect that to be the case and can say with myself and colleagues at Cruise.co.uk it is, we will always try and help with any change, quote and Booking. If you have a general question we will answer that too.

So I hear you ask how much do we charge for this service extra?………………………………………………….Nothing, Nil, Nada!

Why? The cruise industry is very competitive and a lot of company’s including ourselves are competing for your custom. We are one of the biggest company’s in the cruise industry and have been established for 30 years, we have lots of exclusive deals, but dispite all of this we think that’s not enough. We strive to be different from the competition. We know that many people you will talk to about your cruise will only want your booking and you will never get to speak to them after the sale.  We believe that people buy people and it is service that matters most, from beginning to end. We want to build a relationship so you will recommend us and come back to us again in the future.

I think that says it all!
