What a Cracking Day on Cunard!

On Tuesday of this week, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to have my first taste of what sailing on one of the Cunard ships is like when I managed to get myself on Queen Victoria when she called into Port of Tyne on her current British Isles cruise. I and a few of the of the team from here had managed to join a tour of the ship and had been invited for lunch.

We have to do things like this on our own time but it is so worth it as one of the things I think is so important as part of my job is to have a good knowledge of all the different cruise lines and ships that we sell. As I have said I had not been on one of the Queens before and as I book them a lot it was something I really wanted to do and I was not disappointed.

Me and Queen Victoria on an almost Sunny Noth East Day!

We arrived at the port bright and early you could see what a stunning ship she is as we grew closer. I had been on P&O’s Arcadia before which was the same build of ship before Queen Victoria had a facelift and I felt that was the most elegant cruise ship I had been on but Queen Victoria really trumps Arcadia once you are onboard.

So we started off after a very chaotic check-in which was nothing to do with Cunard but really poor organization from the Port. You would have thought that they had never had a cruise ship there before so if you are sailing from there soon allow plenty of time as they gave a very good impression of not knowing what the were doing and could well of won a national jobsworth award! The poor host from Cunard as you would expect dealt with it all very professionally and got over 100 of us on as seamless as they could under the circumstances.

Once finally onboard we entered at the Grand Lobby and you instantly get a feeling of what sailing on one of the Queen’s is all about. It’s very impressive grand and elegant. For want of a better word, it’s a “proper” cruise ship and they just don’t make them like this anymore ( Well Cunard have a new ship coming in 2022 so let’s see if they do ). Now don’t get me wrong I do love the fantastic new ships that are being built now but anyone who has never cruised with Cunard needs to give it a try and some point ti cruise as cruising was meant to be.

I’ve got lots more to say and show you about this amazing ship so look out for more including my gorgeous lunch on my next update!
