Royally Impressed with Princess Part 2……..

It’s just after 2 weeks now that I have come back of my trip on the Amazing Royal Princess but it still feels like it was yesterday and that I have so much more tell. I know everyone I have spoken to since I have been back in the office has been told all about my trip whether they want to or not.

Now one thing I always look forward to when I am going on a cruise is the food, I always love to try great quality ingredients cook well and served in great settings and Princess certainly ticked all the boxes here. So lets start at the beginning of the day which for me is not a trip to the buffet. When I just wake and am starting to ponder food the last thing I want to do is to go to a huge area and wonder round for a seat and then look aimlessly at all the choice and fill my plate with things I never really wanted in the first place. I don’t know if it because I am getting a tad older but I really like to be served and have a menu in front of me ( after all you are on holiday ). So whilst onboard I opted to go to Concerto Main dinning room, The service was always great and the Eggs Benedict is simply to die for.

Another thing that really impressed me on day two was a couple of the party did not have there sea legs on and it was a tad choppy. They did come to breakfast even though they looked a little grey and they could not really eat when there order arrived. When the waiter noticed they had not eaten he was concerned there was something wrong with the food but when he realized it was seasickness he quickly came back with two plates both containing a green apple cut into segments. My friends looked confused to say the least but I explained that the apple is a natural seasickness cure so they managed to eat some and before long the both seemed to find there legs.

Me and the gang enjoying the Best Pizza at Sea in Alfredo’s

Lunchtime we tried a variety of different places, The Main Dinning room again, The Massive Buffet but my Favourite was Alfredo’s which is Princess claim is the best Pizza at Sea. Now I like a good pizza so I was more than happy to put this to the test. Everything is made and  cooked fresh here and although the menu was a little limited in choice ( Mainly for me as I like things with a bit of spice ) When we ordered and the pizza’s arrived they looked nice however when you tasted them they were Amazing and easily the best Pizza at Sea I have had by a country mile.

The Menu we had in the Fantastic Crown Grill

On the evenings we had two nights in the main dinning room again and everything was always so tasty and fresh with the service spot on and very attentive. I had heard on Princess they can be a little slow with the drinks but that was far from the case. The best night we had thought was when it was formal night and we went to the Crown Grill which is the speciality Seafood and Steakhouse. My two favourite things are Seafood and Steak so I knew that night would be a winner and it was. The setting is great and you feel and see quality as soon as you enter but that was second to the food. I had the scallops to start which I love and then after taking what seemed like an age to decide I went for the surf and turf which consisted off Fillet Mignon and a full Lobster tail. Just typing about it now makes my mouth water. If you go on any princess ship you must try the Crown Grill it is simply the best.

Scallops to Start

Then Surf and Turf

I could not make my mind up for Dessert so had this!

There are lots more great places to eat but unfortunately we simply did not have long enough on the ship to sample them all. I did however on your behalf sample lot’s of the watering holes onboard after purchasing the drinks package for $69.95 per day. Some might think that is a lot but seems to be the going rate on many of the US lines and I think it was value for me as I was in holiday mode and wanted to sample several different types of cocktails etc. The place I liked the most to sit and and people watch was the Bellini Bar which sits at the top of Piazza so you can see and hear everything that is going on. With some drinks around $14 in here my drinks package came to the rescue.

The best place to people watch and chat the Bellini Bar

So I am sure you can tell I thought the food and drink across the whole cruise was excellent and Princess is up there with the best I have experienced so I would recommend everyone at some point give Princess a try.
