Celebrity Eclipse – a very classy lady with 6* attitude!

Where do I start? I’m just home from a whirlwind two nights on Eclipse and boy was I impressed! Celebrity do not disappoint, and having been on so many ships I am hard to impress I can tell you.

I will go into more detail over my next few posts but just couldn’t wait to share with you what a wonderful cruise experience Celebrity deliver. The ship itself is just beautiful and so very classy. You almost forget that you are on a mainstream cruise line. The decor is beautiful without being OTT, the restaurants all have their own individual personality and are extremely stylish especially the brand new Luminae, the exclusive restaurant for suite guests.

The food is exceptional by anybody’s standards, even in the Oceanview Cafe. I have only ever once come across such choice and such beautifully presented food before and that was on Celebrity Equinox. Dinner in Moonlight Sonata, the main dining room, was of the highest quality and the service was slick and professional while at the same time extremely friendly. The attention to detail was superb.

The cabins were fantastic. Ranging from Inside to Suite Class they were all brilliant and had everything you needed – added to which the cabin stewards were as delightful as always.

Entertainment was varied, something for everyone and of an excellent standard.

There were a few things that really stood out for me, things that you would normally expect to find on one of the 6* lines rather than a mainstream cruise ship, one of which I would like to share with you as it really impressed me to be honest.

During dinner on the first night one of my colleagues and I commented quietly to each other that it didn’t seem overly warm, and at the same time we rubbed our upper arms. From out of nowhere appeared a waiter – “madam, you look cold, I will fetch you some jackets”. He reappeared a couple of minutes later with two black jackets, obviously waiters jackets, and popped them around our shoulders! How about that for service? I cannot tell you how many people were in the dining room but there were a lot, yet he noticed that we were chilly and promptly did something about it. Now that is what I call great service, going the extra mile!
