A total ‘Eclipse’ of my tastebuds!

Yes, it really was! I can honestly say that if you are a food lover like myself then Celebrity is the cruise line for you. I would go so far as to say that the food served up by this mainstream cruise line is almost on a par with food that I have eaten on 6* ships, and I am talking main dining room here.

Of course there are the speciality restaurants on board, Tuscan Grill which is the Steakhouse, Murano’s the French restaurant and Qsine which offers the most amazing Heston Blumenthal-esque menu, but on my last trip on Celebrity Eclipse I ate only in the Buffet restaurant and Moonlight Sonata which is the main dining room. I couldn’t fault a thing! If you want to pay the surcharges to dine in the speciality restaurants then by all means do so but I assure you, you will do equally well in the main dining room.

Starting with the Buffet restaurant, the selection, presentation and quality of the food was nothing short of superb and merely reaffirmed to me that these are the best buffet’s at sea. I think the photos speak for themselves really.

In the Moonlight Sonata of an evening, there is a set menu of old favourite’s that remains the same throughout your cruise alongside a menu that changes daily so you have the best of both worlds. There is tremendous choice and definitely something for every palette. Just a note here, if you have the all inclusive drinks package just mention it to the Sommelier and they will tell you which wines you can choose from, and they will also ensure that your glass is well topped up all evening!
