Symphony of the Seas, Is bigger always better?

Symphony of the Seas is the latest addition to the Royal Caribbean cruise line, and now claims the record as the largest cruise ship in the world. Does being the biggest always mean being the best?

First of all here are the vital statistics, Symphony is 18 decks high, she tips the scales at 228,000 tons and measures 1,188 ft long.  She can carry up to an amazing 6,680 passengers, who are served by 2,200 crew members. Whilst on board the passengers will never go hungry as they have the choice of a staggering 19 places to eat, offering everything from hot dog to  A la Carte dining.

Guests can look forward to the return of Royal Caribbean’s seven unique neighbourhoods bursting with the promise of many exciting onboard activities.

If its entertainment you are after, you can take in a show in the Theatre, with seats for 1400 people, if you want to get “back to nature” Symphony has its very own park featuring 12,000 living trees and plants. For the adrenaline junkies, dare you brave “The Ultimate Abyss”, a ten-storey slide, or fly high above everyone else on the zip line. Added to that you can attempt the Escape Room, which is based on a submarine that’s running out of oxygen, Hang 10 on the FlowRider or make a splash in the H2O Zone water park. You can try the Rock Climbing Wall,  the Sports Court or even the Mini Golf.

If relaxation and pampering are more your thing, you can induldge yourself to some treatments at the Vitality Spa, or splash the cash in the Royal Promenade`s designer boutiques.

There are some amazing accomodations onboard Symphony.  The Ultimate Family Suite is every kid’s wildest dream, evoking happy childhood memories for adults and making for the most exciting, unforgettable and fun-filled family holiday ever. Featuring a first-of-its-kind, two-deck-high family suite with a slide between floors. The Royal Suite Class takes luxury at sea to a whole new level. Three tiers of suites that will rival the worlds best hotels. These are for you if you appreciate elegant style, premium amenities and luxurious comfort.

Personally I prefer my ships a bit smaller and more intimate but I am sure that this ship will be another feather in the cap for Royal Caribbean.
