The exciting news leaking from P&O is that, from May 2019, they are going to end the discretionary daily Service Charge.
Until that date, a discretionary daily Service Charge amount of £7 will continue to be added for guests aged 12 and over.
What do you think of that news, do you agree with automatic gratuities or do you always have them removed when you get on the ship?
It will be interesting to see if this makes any difference to either the prices or the service you receive.
The official statement from P&O reads “For holidays departing from May 2019 the discretionary daily Service Charge on board will be removed, which means you can relax knowing it’s all taken care of. ”
The other recent news from the P&O camp is that their new addition, P&O Iona, will begin her inaugural season sailing to the beautiful Norwegian fjords. With departures throughout the spring and summer of 2020, you will have even more opportunities to explore one of the world’s most iconic destinations.
As P&O say “The itineraries have been carefully designed as an introduction to the region, offering something for everyone, all wrapped up in one unforgettable holiday. In each port, a collection of shore excursions will take you to the heart of Norway’s astonishing natural wonders and diverse cultural attractions.”
Have you visited this part of the world, did it live up to its reputation as an amazing destination?
P&O are very proud of their latest addition, stating ” We proudly name this ship Iona, as a celebration of the sea and our island nation. Named after the tranquil island in the Inner Hebrides; known for its stunning landscape and epic views of the ocean. Iona too is set to make the sea the star. From many of her innovative spaces, you’ll be able to appreciate the beauty of the sea, and views of the ever-changing coastline vistas and ports of call.”
