Cruising with Jane McDonald

The good news is that our “favourite songstress at sea”, Jane McDonald, is back with another series.

The 1st episode was shown on Friday 9th February. This is the third series, featuring the “Queen of Wakefield”,  again shown on channel 5.

The four cruises featured are Ruby Princess, sailing from Los Angeles; sailing the Mississippi onboard an old style paddle-steamer; discovering Iceland whilst on an expedition ship and finally cruising with Ama Waterways along the Mekong river.

Being featured on this programme seems to have a positive effect on the sales of the cruises, with Celestyal Cruises, Uniworld, Avalon, MSC Cruises and Viking Ocean Cruises, all reporting a huge leap in enquiries and bookings immediately after the  broadcast of the programme.

The 1st episode, on the Ruby Princess, featured chocolate coated massages, gatecrashing an onboard wedding, trying her hand at speed-painting and sampling the frosty benefits of cryotherapy.

I am personally looking forward to the Mekong espisode, where Jane travels in the Amadara, along the world’s 12th longest river. In Vietnam, she visits Ho Chi Minh City, exploring the endless markets. Watch as she crosses into Cambodia, for years off limits, but now revealing a land of historic temples, stunning vistas and gorgeous food. Visiting one of the oldest religious monuments on Earth, the temple of Angkor Wat.

In another episode, she braves the cold to witness the mesmerizing   Aurora Borealis,or the Northern Lights to you & I. Onboard the Ocean Diamond, she treats us to breathtaking views along Iceland’s rugged shorelines.

All in all, this is a “must see” series, whether you be a seasoned cruiser or someone yet to find their sea legs.
