Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Ain’t No Valley Low Enough

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Ain’t No Valley Low Enough – you know the words so sing along!

This is the song I could not get out of my head last week when I was talking to one of my customers about the legendary Rocky Mountaineer train. They have been lucky enough to experience this fantastic journey earlier this year and as it was for a special birthday they opted to upgrade to the Gold Leaf service on board the train.

So you may ask what is the difference between the 2 levels offered – they are both amazing.

The silver level coach is on one level and has large panoramic windows that let in lost of light. You dine and view the amazing scenery from the comfort of your seat. Breakfast and lunch are served to you and there will be at least 2 choices, and if you feel peckish in between there are unlimited snacks and drinks available too.

In Gold Leaf, as you would expect, the game does step up, here you will find a bi level carriage, you can take in the views from your seat or there is an open viewing platform from which to take amazing pictures. Breakfast and lunch are served in the downstairs carriage and this is more a la carte with six or seven options to choose from – there are 3 chefs on board that prepare the food whilst on the train.

From the moment you board the hosts will welcome you and begin to tell you  stories, the history of not only the land but the train too, they are your local experts on the geography and wildlife of this amazing area.

So what journeys can you do?

The service runs from mid April to mid October, you don’t get to sleep on the train it’s a daylight service only, but when you do disembark the hotels they use are in great locations and well known names too.

If you are combining this experience with a cruise, the majority opt to fly into Calgary and start their journey here finishing in Vancouver and then boarding their cruise ship. Whatever you do though you will get to experience the magnificent scenery of 4 National Parks, you will see Mount Robson which is the highest peak in the Rocky Mountains. So if I have whetted your appetite a little to find out more about this experience then why not give me a call to see what’s on offer.
