Got Three Kids? Prepare To Be Stung!

Anyone that has spoken to me in the last few weeks knows that in the summer the wife and I are expecting twin girls.

Big news, and a bit of a curveball I must admit, but we are obviously immensely happy despite the initial shock!

No record of twins on either side of our families, so to say that it came as a surprise would be an understatement!

Anyhow, being a cruise specialist of nigh on 15 years at this point, I find myself in the exceptionally aggravating position of searching for cabins for five.

Day to day, I don’t come across this very often, whereby a family of two adults, has 3 young children, and when I do, it’s a bit of an eye roll moment because you know that almost no ships cater for taking 5 guests in one room.

This is down to the space issue of course. You simply can’t fit 5 in one really, unless you go for a bigger suite, but these cost a fortune.

So, now that I find myself in this position, I am just rolling the eyes at myself!

We do want to cruise in the future, but at the moment I can’t justify buying two cabins or a big suite, nor can I afford it, nor is there the selection of ships and itineraries that could accommodate us that I want or like.

It’s a problem. I find myself in a real dilemma.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Ideally what I would like is to book a regular balcony cabin (or I’d even take inside or oceanview to be fair), at the same price as everyone else, that would give me enough beds looking forward. Or enough floor space for two cots – something I now find myself owning!

For now I’ve taken to looking at land based holidays because of course with hotels you can get larger family rooms because they have more space to play with.

When I come to holiday in any case, due to the fact we are now outnumbered, I will be bringing another adult anyway to help out with our current little boy, who turns two years old roughly when the twins are born! So yes, we will have our hands full.

I wasn’t even going to think about a holiday, but the wife has cracked the whip and told me that is not an option. Well she best watch out with that attitude, next time I might put triplets in there!

Do I just buy a motorhome and drive somewhere to avoid the flying?

Argh, it’s a battle in my mind already!

Who knows what we’ll end up doing.

My requirements are sun, sea, good coffee, better food, and a gentlemanly selection of scotch.

Maybe I best stay at home and just buy a ruddy sunbed.

That’s all for now folks, thanks for reading and comments welcome as always!

Until next time….
