Fat Fighting Tips At Sea

Now don’t get me wrong we all love a big blowout when we are on holiday but with a cruise there is the temptation to go totally overboard. Excuse the pun but it was too easy!

So being an expert in fitness (complete lie), I thought I might give you guys a few tips to Fight the Fat at Sea!

Also I have a very good friend of works as a professional dancer on board the ships, so she above all people knows a thing or two about keeping in shape. She has helped me put this together hoping the advice will help you come back from your cruise the same weight (or less) than when you set off!

So here we go!

Quick Tips for staying fit and healthy on your cruise:

-Make full use of the free gym that you have on board! It’s a state of the art, million dollar gym on most ships and there’s really no excuse for not using it when it’s only an elevator ride away! Set yourself a target of just 30 minutes a day in there and work hard for that 30 minutes.

-Make full use of the Personal Trainers in the gym and ask for a plan to help you for when you get home. You probably wouldn’t normally seek out a PT at home so do it now while there’s one on board.

-Enjoy the free classes that are there for you from Pilates to yoga to spinning and much more.

-Join in with the group activities run by your hosts such as basketball, golf, dance classes etc.

-There’s nothing better than running round the deck in the evening with the sun setting, if that’s not enough of an inspiration to take a run then I don’t know what is! Plus it will make you feel better right before dinner!

-Don’t over indulge!!! The temptation is right there but is it really necessary to have ANOTHER trip to the buffet when you’re completely stuffed already?!! On average, cruisers put on 2 lbs per day so try and keep your eating habits to a minimum and don’t eat double what you would at home!

-There are endless salad bars and fresh fruit available so make the most of those as they are all prepared and done for you. Plus things like sushi bars and stir fry bars with lots of fresh veg that are a great alternative.

-You really shouldn’t eat past 7 pm anyway as your body can’t digest it so maybe just take pictures of the midnight buffet but don’t dive in for a 500 calorie cake right before bed!!!

So a lot of this is just general knowledge and whether you choose to use it or not is up to you, but what sort of Cruise Specialist would I be if I didn’t take extra care of my clients? Not a very good one!

Anyway thanks for reading and any thought or tips please share them with me via this page, or Facebook or Google Plus. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

  1. Freddie love,

The whole point of a cruise, it to let yourself go and have some fun. On previous cruises I used to train in the gym every day, spurn the desserts etc, yes I didn`t put an ounce on, but I didn`t enjoy it. then I thought ” stuff this ” and so indulged myself, but I always take the stairs, I don`t drink fattening cocktails during the day and dance the night away in the disco!
In addition I train hard before my holiday and when I return home, much more enjoyable, hell, you`ve paid for it.
