Explorer Food Impresses My Folks

So last week my parents and a bunch of their friends arrived back in Southampton having sailed up to Russia and Scandinavia aboard Royal Caribbeans ‘Explorer Of The Seas’.

Although their were one of two issues in terms of communication and service on the ship, by and large they thoroughly enjoyed it.

The main plus point which stood out for me having spoken to them upon return though, were their comments about the high quality of food on board.

They are both into their food and wines, so I was really pleased to hear them give high praise for the cuisine they were served.

Commenting on the highlights such as the excellent steaks, consistently hot food, and excellent buffet choice, among the standout items reported.

They were also very happy with the drinks package they got with the promotion too. They are more into their wines than anything else, so it was good to hear that on the whole the choice and quality of these again was very good. I’m sure they would have sampled the odd G&T in addition but as that’s a drink that 5 year old could perfect I have focused on the wine because you can drink some really bad stuff on the ‘house wines’ menu. I myself have sampled one or two grim bottles that really should have a ‘Sarsons’ label on the front than a Merlot or Pinot! And that is probably offensive to Sarsons if anything!

Anyway as ever I’ve gone off track slightly…

I wanted primarily to report back on the food quality because in recent months I have had the odd negative comment about the food aboard Royal Caribbean, completely opposing what my parents said, so I wanted to bolster people’s confidence if they have read anything online about it that may put them off.

It can be hit and miss from ship to ship of course, and good cuisine to one, may not necessarily be good to another. But my folks have been cruising for roughly 15 years now, taking in the likes of P&O, Cunard, Royal Caribbean, Fred Olsen and Celebrity, and although it would be hard to remember the amount of meals they’ve eaten at sea, when your dad comes back and says ‘It was probably the best food we’ve ever had on a cruise’, then you want to report it!

So anyone booked aboard Explorer this summer, hopefully you are in for a treat!

Thanks for reading, and as ever, until next time………
