Frankie says “Cruise”

As many acronyms as Line of Duty…?

Police Line Do Not Cross tape against blurred city background, fire engine hoses and buildings visible in background

If, like me, you have become hooked by the latest TV Drama set to reach its conclusion on Sunday, Line of Duty, then you will understand where I am going with this…

There is the OCG (Organised Crime Group), UCO (Under Cover Officer), DCC (Detective Chief Constable), and the ACU’s (Anti-Corruption Units) and many more.. whilst I think I have just about mastered all of these now it just got me thinking that my job is so similar to that of the DI (Detective Inspector) – to piece together all of your requirements to get the best possible outcome – the right cruise for you…  and sometimes even the FLO (Family Liaison Officer) !! – negotiating between Husband & Wife as to the most affordable option – to also suit all your needs !!. WOW, I could even be H !!  – The finale is actually whilst I am out of the country so no spoiler comments please as I will be a couple of weeks behind everyone else in catching up.

Travel and the Cruise industry also has many of its own Acronyms and “jargon” and whilst we try to keep our customer facing documentation as much jargon free as possible here are some that you may have stumbled across.

GTY – Guarantee, referring to cabin (or dining) which is allocated by the Cruise Line

OODR – Outside of Date Range, where the flight schedules are not yet released by the airline.

FAM – Familiarisation Trip, yes our beloved “Educational Visits”..

CLIA – Cruise Lines International Association, a trade association for cruise specialists

and then the ones you will all be more familiar with of ABTA – Association of British Travel Agents and ATOL – Air Travel Organiser’s Licence.. Here at Cruise.co.uk we are members of ABTA and hold our own ATOL to allow us to be able to arrange all our amazing Tailor Made and Bucket List Packages for you whilst offering complete financial protection and peace of mind..

So there we go the low down on our Cruise & Travel Acronyms and for now I am OOO (Out of Office) an AL (Annual Leave).  Actually going on my own holiday – not a FAM !
