Emily's Cruise Essentials

Royal Princess

Following on from the last Blog I wanted to talk more about the different restaurants I experienced during my time on Royal Princess.

During the daytime, we ate mainly in the buffet restaurant which is also known as the Horizon Court. For a large ship which carries the capacity of 3500 passengers it didn’t feel overcrowded at all and managed to find a table quickly. There was always plenty of food to choose from as well.  They catered well for the Gluten-free cruises offering a wide choice.  You could have anything from pitta bread, salads, seafood, cakes cookies. It was a fantastic choice and something for everyone.

In the evenings as we were part of a group, we ate in the Sapphire restaurant where you were served by waiters. I like the option to do this as makes the meal a large part of the evening. Also here you could choose from a variety of dishes. One evening I had cold chilli soup which actually was really nice. Whenever I cruise I am a big fan of soups and creme brulee, not sure what it is but you can’t beat these on the cruise ships.

We got the chance to dine in one of the speciality restaurant, The Crown Grill. Up until now I personally thought why to pay extra when you have so much food included. I am so glad I did and it changed my mind. I had the ‘Surf 7 Turf’ which was a ribeye steak and lobster tail. I can honestly say this is probably up there with one of the best steaks I have ever had. What surprises me about the main dining restaurant or the Crowne Grill, even though the portion sizes are a la carte I always left feeling like I had eaten a banquet. This being said I did manage to find room to have a seafood salad from the International Cafe at the Piazza. I love a good salad and these didn’t disappoint.

The beauty of cruising is to have all this and more at hand where you can eat and relax as much or as little as you want.

This won’t be my last time with Princess as its up there with one of my favourites.
