Emily's Cruise Essentials

I left my heart in San Francisco….

San Francisco is a popular port of call for many cruise lines. I have to say from my own experience I have fond memories of San Fran, as it is occasionally known. The distance in to the main shopping area is 14 miles which can be easily reached by local transportation. Once on land the vibrant city has a lot to offer. For all ‘shopaholics’ you won’t be disappointed with the choice of department store’s to choose from, Macey’s, Bloomingdales and my favourite China Town. If it’s History and Culture that takes your fancy, there’s plenty to see and do. Perhaps take a short boat ride from Fisherman’s Wharf over to Alcatraz, the famous prison which held some of America’s notorious prisoners such as, Al Capone and George ‘Machine Gun Kelly’. Whilst walking around the grounds you may find it familiar as it has also been the set for several Hollywood films.

With choice aplenty for eating out, trying a seafood chowder is a must.  Fisherman’s Wharf has lot’s of quirky shops selling all the San Francisco memorabilia  and bars playing live music. I would  go back in an instant.
