My time in The House of Commons for Prime Minister’s Questions

Houses of Parliament with popular clock tower Big Ben in London.

Just seven short days ago I spent a couple of hours indulging my inner politician. I sat in the gallery to watch my parliament members debate important matters and delivering questions to our Prime Minister.

We had reserved tickets as we anticipated a busy time for our government and my goodness, we were not wrong! We stood in the Palace of Westminster to watch the current Speaker of the House, John Bercow, be escorted to the chamber before making our way to our vantage point above the house to view the days proceedings.

We spent the next ninety minutes watching and listening, not to just the important people, May, Corbyn… but also the background MP’s… some of which spent the most part scrolling Facebook on their iPads. It was fascinating watching the diversity of each party, what they were wearing and their mannerisms.

I’ve always been interested in politics, however the past couple of years, my passion for politics has been catapulted by several national elections, international elections, referendums, scandals and resignations. I have never known a time so fluid and unstable as this day, I can only dread what is to come with Britain’s departure from the European Union and what it will entail for us holiday makers.

In my view, we can expect higher prices, higher roaming charges, possible visa waiver fees and less access to overseas services including medical and financial.

Time will tell and I am sure, as a country we will bounce back from this incredible blow.

Happy Cruising! (for now)
