I’m on the Rhine!

At the time of publishing I will be blissfully cruising along the River Rhine through Germany, and Switzerland with a brief branch off to the Moselle River for a touch of vino.

This will be my first ever river cruise and I am (hopefully) enjoying it greatly. I’m on board Fred Olsen’s newly chartered ship, Brabant which has just 70 cabins and 150 passengers! There’s one sitting for breakfast, lunch and dinner, no buffet, and no Broadway style show lounge. So it certainly is going to be much different that usual!

To be honest, this excites me. Rest and relaxation is well in need and I am sure that this is going to be the perfect, quiet and scenic cruise.

We flew to Dusseldorf in Germany on June 21st and have been cruising south to call at Cologne, Koblenz, Strasbourg, Cochem and a selection of other towns before arriving in Basel Switzerland to disembark.

The ship has a restaurant, two bar/lounges, free internet, a shop, a fitness room, a massage room, a salon, free bikes to use, shuffleboard, and even a plunge pool.

The weather looks mixed, starting in a mild 18 degrees with sun in Dusseldorf and increasing steadily to 29 by the end of the week.

I’m most looking forward to visiting Cochem & Koblenz as Jodie, my colleague used to have an acquaintance there and has told me all about it!

Castles, Black Forest Gateaux, afternoon tea, stunning scenery, exploration and relaxation await.

Have you taken a river cruise? How was it?

Happy cruising!
