Cruise – Dress Codes..Whats your thoughts?

What’s your thoughts on Cruise Lines Dress Code’s?

Well in recent news P&O have clamped down on the dress code on board their ship’s. They have decided to STOP all Fancy Dress attire on board any of their ships from 01st January 2018. They have stated that they will have to right to deny embarkation to any guests that are inappropriately dressed. The only exception to the rule is official themed nights. They have also clarified their definition of Casual Evening Wear and Formal Evening Wear and what is suitable dress code.

So what is suitable attire? For a Casual evening, P&O are suggesting Casual separates or dresses for us ladies and a polo shirt with casual trousers (Not Shorts)is acceptable for the guys – NO Trainers, football shirts or tracksuits.

For a Black Tie Night, it is suggested that ladies can get their best frocks on and dress to impress, for the guys then it would be suited and booted evening. Although you can wear formal national dress too.

So what about our little people, what should they wear, I know when i cruised in October, my boys really did not like dressing up in trousers and shirts for dinner.  P&O have been fair and do appreciate that little ones don’t always want to be dressed to the nine’s. However, they have stated that children DO NOT wear denim on the formal nights.

They have also changed their Alcohol Policy. They have stated that passengers are only allowed to bring up to 1 Litre of alcohol on board at embarkation. Any alcohol that is purchased in Ports will be kept by the ship under they disembark their cruise. Fairs fair I suppose, however Fred Olsen’s rules are that NO alcohol can be taken on board at all.

So what are your thoughts on either of these issues? I would love to hear them.
