You may have heard about swimming with Dolphins but what about pigs??

Yes, your eyes are deceiving you, I did mean pigs.

It has always been a dream of mine to swim with Dolphins and later this year when I head over to the Caribbean I am intending on doing just that.

There has always been a lot of interest to do this type of activity, whether you are doing a land based holiday or a cruise. There are generally a few of the Caribbean Islands that can offer such trips to coincide with your Cruise Itinerary.

Whilst watching what my husband refers to as ‘junk TV’,  I came across Pig Beach!

This is an amazing place in Exuma Islands in the Bahamas

The Exuma Islands are known for their translucent waters. Bordering  the powder-white sand beach. There are 365 of these cays along this section of the Bahamas, covering 130 turquoise miles.

It is uncertain how the pigs got there. Theory has it that sailors dropped them off on the islands expecting to come back later to the islands with pigs ready to be domesticated. Another theory is that the pigs are shipwreck survivors. A third, and perhaps the most probable theory is that the pigs were relocated by local villagers in the 1990’s due to the complaints from the Stench. Whichever way they got here, they look an amusing sight, and it was such a fantastic experience to see them.

Unfortunately, Nassau is over 80KM away and not really possible within the time we are going to be spending there. It is such a shame but if you are ever considering the Bahamas then remember to check out those pigs.

Have you ever visited Pig Beach? I would love to see your photos!
