What do you do on your day at sea?

When it comes to sea days, you either love ’em or hate ’em.

While some might spend afternoons in the spa or by the pool, others are checking through the daily schedule, desperate for something , anything  to do until reaching the next port. What do you do?

I actually love seas days. Firstly, it means a lie in as those port days are early starts especially if you have an excursion booked.

So, after my breakfast in bed what else do i do? Well, I do read whats going on around the ship as they often do a lot more activities. I look out for the talks and the presentations happening around the ship. Lots of the shops have good sales on as they have a captive audience and often discount certain lines- Especially if the sea days are towards the end of the cruise

Towel folding? Beanbag toss? Line dancing?  If none of those take your fancy then how about checking out the Spa and a touch of pampering? Many Ships allow you to book a half day or full day to get away from the crowds especially around the pool areas. Somewhere tranquil to escape to. Always worth booking in advance though as they are rarely available once on board.

Perhaps book one of the Specialty restaurants for your evening at Sea. You have more time to get ready for the occasion too!

If you prefer to try your hand at cooking , then some ships even run their own cookery classes that you can serve to the rest of your family or friends.

Some ships of afternoon showings of their productions- or an afternoon parade down the Centre of the ship. There is endless things to keep you entertained.

I sometimes check out the Quizzes. You always find a real Egg Head on board- Well I do anyway! You know the one- 350 cruises under his belt and knows every general knowledge question on the planet! But it is always entertaining.

So, next time you are looking at the itinerary and you spot those ‘days at Sea’, look forward to them instead of dreading them and you may just learn to enjoy them as much as I do.
