My Day with Gok

If you follow my Facebook page you will know that last week I spend the weekend in Sligo at a fashion and beauty event hosted by Gok Wan and Danielle McMahon (an Irish make up artist). It was my sister’s birthday and we rally fancied doing something different so we found ourselves driving along the Wild Atlantic Way and staying for three nights at the Clayton Hotel in Sligo.

The Clayton hotel is a 4 star hotel just just outside Sligo City centre. The original building dates back to 1847 and around €45 million euros was spent on developing the old hospital into the wonderful hotel it is now. The surroundings are gorgeous and with an indoor pool, fitness suite, and conference facilities the inside most definitely matches the outside.

The fashion even its self was fabulous. The room was filled with 299 eager ladies and 1 maybe not so eager man lol.

We were treated to fashion shows, talks on what to wear for different occasions and of course what not to wear. It show cased the very best of local designers and fashion boutiques. The ever fabulous Gok Wan kept us entertained all day and his open and honest Q&A session was fun and light hearted and we left the day loving Gok that little bit more.

On our final full day in County Sligo we decided to do a bit of sightseeing and visited one of my favourite places in Ireland, Strandhill. It is only a 15 minute drive from Sligo and has the most breathtaking views and beach there. In recent years it has become a surfers paradise where is just isn’t a sport there – its a way of life. With a few coffee shops, traditional Irish bar, some gorgeous fish restaurants and of course a surf school, it really has everything you need with stunning views through in for free.

Have a look at some of my photos below and my quick video of the beach and you will be rushing to put this part of the Wild Atlantic Way on your bucket list!!
