Cruising The Molly Way

Lobsters are escaping from cruise ships?

Apparently Canadian Lobsters have been found off the Yorkshire coast after being thrown back into the sea by cruise ship passengers who take pity on them!

According to a local newspaper,  the Yorkshire Post, the lobsters have been caught by local fisherman despite being native to the Atlantic coast of North America. One such fisherman, Gary Redshaw, said he found one around two years old off the coast of Bridlington and commented he had heard one officer from a cruise ship talking to the captain of the fishing boat saying that some of the cruise ship passengers were going to order lobsters and release them, thinking they were doing good!

However it may be that they may be a threat to the local wildlife and there are currently studies undergoing at the University of Hull to see the effect they have on the local eco system.

The lobsters may be happy but I don’t think the ships Head Chef will be as he watches his budget being thrown back into the sea!

Have you ever had a live lobster presented to you on a ship as I haven’t and when looking into this story discovered it was actually a few years old so things may have changed since then.

If anyone knows please let me know!
