Norovirus of the Sea’s

So you may have heard on the grapevine or seen on the news about the norovirus outbreak on-board Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Sea’s whilst in the Caribbean. It has been reported that over 400 guests and crew members on-board have come down with the virus forcing the captain to make the executive decision to return to Port Canaveral a day earlier than expected.

It is not very often you hear of such an outbreak so devastating to cause so much havoc to everyone on-board, as well as the guests that are not infected but having to return back 1 day earlier. As you can imagine this will, therefore, have a knock-on effect causing issues for all customers having to locate available accommodation for the extra day they are back in Port Canaveral before their flight home the next day.

This is why it is so very important to make sure you are rinsing and sanitizing your hangs where ever possible on a cruise to remove any germs that may have been picked up from either onshore or even from the cruise itself. And also to try and avoid putting any parts of your hands or fingers near your mouth.

I can only imagine what these poor customers must be going through as in 11 years and 9 cruises I have never come across poorly or ill on a ship and this may have something to do with me using the hand sanitizers at every opportunity. Bearing this in mind, a virus can reach you in many forms but feel that the sanitizers will always help combat the virus.

Royal Caribbean has recently had a string of bad luck with the Navigator of the seas having the issues with the stabilizer being damaged and unable to complete the original voyage itinerary and having to make a few changes to the itinerary. Let’s hope the rest of 2019 see’s Royal Caribbean take her crown back.
