Mountain lions and Bears…a whale of a tail

I had a lovely day today, I had family visiting from Canada, they live not that far from Vancouver but way out in the wilds.
They have neighbors quite close by but they have to be careful when they go out as they have bears that come to visit, fully grown 300lb huge animals. My cousin said she went to get in the car one day and there was a bear that popped its head up right next to where she was standing, well I would have been off like a shot, she said you just make a lot of noise and they tend to leave you alone most of the time. They are more dangerous when they have young with them.

This photo was taken in the grounds where they live

She was telling me that the main problem is the mountain lions as they are a different kettle of fish as they will stalk you down and don’t get frightened off like the bears do.

They do live in a beautiful area and although it is very rural they just love it there.
She was telling me that they sometimes go to see the cruise ships that come in from the Alaskan cruises and she said that everyone who gets off the ships justs talks about the pure back to nature feel about the whole thing.
The huge whales that follow the ship are a sight that you won’t forget, I mean everyone wants that perfect tail shot don’t they?

I was talking about the cruises that we do over to Alaska and also talking about the Rocky Mountaineer which looks and sounds amazing and it is one of our most popular bucket list cruises.
If it is something you would love to try then have a look on our website and take a look. I think it reminds us of just how small we really are compared to some of the amazing creatures out there.
The Fjord regions of Alaska are simply stunning as well and the noises as the ice cracks are something that you always remember as the chunks of ice fall from the glaciers, you don’t notice from a distance but some of these chunks of ice are as big as a house
Whatever you decide to do in future I think an Alaskan cruise would be truly awe-inspiring.
