Independence of the seas all new again…

The independence of the seas is one of the UKs most loved ships and she is going in to have a refurbishment soon, she will be getting new things added to her so that it gives a new twist for her avid followers (I am one of them).
I was on her in October and as amazing as she is she had started to look a little tired in places, not everybody noticed but when you sell cruises for a living you tend to go on your own holidays on a ship with a critical eye, it’s so hard to turn off.

So what will be new then I hear you ask.

Well for families they will love the newer version of Splashaway bay with it’s new water slides and fountains and the one and only drench bucket, the kids love all this and on other ships that have one it is amazing watching the kids making new friends and dodging the bucket, I don’t know why they dodge it as they can’t get any wetter, the laughter is contagious though even if you are only walking past.

A first for Royal Caribbean is a trampoline park, actually it’s the first one ever at sea so that will be a big hit with all ages I think, this will be on the Independence as well it has been announced.

This next one I love and that is an escape room, you have a certain amount of time to solve the clues and “escape,” of course it is never going to be as simple as that as there will be all sorts of twists and turns involved as there was on the Harmony of the seas but that makes it all the more fun, you go in groups of up to 10 and you will not be in there forever if you can’t solve the puzzles so don’t worry, give it a go though as its a great laugh.

On the Speciality dining side of things she is also getting Izumi which is an Asian and sushi restaurant, I am not a fan of sushi but did try it on Ovation of the seas and I actually liked it which i did not expect, I think it may have had something to do with the dips that came with the food as they were really tasty.

There are also a few newer cabins types as well like the panoramic staterooms with floor to ceiling windows.
I am sure there are a few other extras we have not been told about yet so all I can say is watch this space.

She has a few really good offers on through the space of the year, we have booked the 5 night sailing on 20th October 2018 which was really good value, we got ourselves a Royal promenade stateroom, I have not stayed in one of these before and wanted to give it a go.

So at prices from £199 for a 2 night mini cruise in May why wouldn’t you want to try it out.

What would you like to see on a ship if you could design something and have it put on board?
