Kochi & Kerala Backwaters Cruising

Tomorrow sees me off on an adventure. I am heading off to India for 2 nights in Cochin at the Taj Malabar Hotel and then transfer to the RV Vaikundam for a 7 night Kerala Backwaters Cruise.

Firstly being India I had to arrange a visa. The cost for this has recently reduced and I got a E Visa for just $25 and this is valid for 30 days. It was fairly straight forward to complete. I managed to take my visa photo on my phone and it was all granted within 24 hours.

On arrival we will be taken to the Taj Malabar for a 2 night hotel stay. Whilst here we will get the chance to tour Old Fort Cochin the epicenter of the spice trade for centuries. We will also get the chance to visit the Chinese fishing nets unique to Kochi.

The RV Vaikundam is a modified version of a traditional rice barge of the past. There are just 9 guest cabins with private bathrooms and windows all located on the lower deck. On the upper deck we find a kitchen, dining hall and open lounge.
There is an on board destination manager, cruise director and chef. A complete crew of ten for eighteen guests.

Every day whilst on board all meals are provided and we have a jam packed schedule of activities and tours included. On my return I will have a full blog of everything we did so pop back to have a read or follow my facebook page for daily updates.
