Up Up & Away

Last weekend I celebrated my 38th Birthday and what a way to start the day.

Up at 04:00 myself and my friend Jules headed to Glastonbury for an early morning hot air balloon ride.

I don’t think any of us were expecting the balloon to still be on the back of a truck when we got there but it was fun helping to get it ready.

Around 07:00 we were finally up, up and away.

We were super lucky as the wind took us straight over Glastonbury Tor and the views were spectacular. We felt even luckier when the girls in the basket next to us told us they had been trying to take this ride for 3 years but every time the weather was too bad to fly.

We stayed in the air for about an hour before the pilot found us a nice clear field to land in. Whilst the rest of us started to dismantle the balloon the Virgin team were off trying to find the farmer to get permission to retrieve the balloon from their field. Luckily the farmer was happy for us to be there and we all celebrated a successful ride with a glass of champagne. Makes you wonder what happens if the farmer does object. The last thing you would want after landing is to be chased through a field by an angry farmer!

It was a  truly magical experience and something I would highly recommend.

Another one ticketed off the bucket list, so what next?
