With the uncertainty of Brexit hanging over the country. It’s understandable that I’ve received a few calls from people concerned about their upcoming cruise holiday and how it might be affected.
Whilst none of us know what the long term outcome will be. I thought it best to update you on what we do know with the current Government and ABTA advise;
Rules for passports
The rules for travel to most countries in Europe change if the UK leaves the European Union (EU) with no deal.
After 29 March 2019:
1 You should have at least 6 months left on your passport from your date of arrival. This applies to adult and child passports.
2 If you renewed a passport before it expired, extra months may have been added to your new passport’s expiry date. Any extra months on your passport over 10 years may not count towards the 6 months that should be remaining for travel to most countries in Europe.

Cruise Passenger Advise
- UK departures: Passengers who embark on a cruise at a UK port will continue to be protected by the EU regulation on maritime passengers’ rights, which will be brought into UK law.
- Fly-cruise: UK citizens can be reassured that regardless of the Brexit outcome planes will still fly between the UK and the EU. If a deal is agreed then we will be in a transition period, meaning everything will stay the same until the end of December 2020 and flights will continue as normal.
Passengers should take out appropriate travel insurance, check and understand the terms and conditions of their booking, and check with their cruise line and insurance provider if they have any questions.
