Destination Norway

My cruise on Celebrity Silhouette but equally great was the destination – Norway. I don`t know why but Northern Europe always seems to look like the little sister of the Mediterranean but I know know  this is far from  the truth.  The scenery is spectacular and the people lovely, with so much to do here is what I did and what I think are the things not to be missed.

Bergen was our first port of call. It is probably the biggest town in the itinerary with lots of well known shops and many restaurants. Make sure you visit the Fish Market and also take the Funicular for wonderful views over  the whole area. We did all this on the Big Bus Hop On Hop Off which was just outside the port and really good value.

On to Flam and I don`t really need to say anymore. It is one of the prettiest places in the world. We booked the railway up into the mountains months ago and were so glad we did as there was no chance of booking this trip on board. The scenery as even better than when I did the Rocky Mountaineer two years ago. Another good tip set your alarm clock. I woke up around 5.30 am and looked out of the window as we were sailing up through the Fjords it was magical at that time in the morning and the water was as clear a glass.

Day 3 was Geiranger, another lovely small village at the end of another beautiful Fjord. This was a quiet day sat by the lakeside with a glass of ( very expensive ) wine whilst watching the world go by.

Alesund was the next stop. I think this was my least favourite, but maybe we had been spoiled by stunning scenery of the inner Fjords. The thing to do here though i stake  the train right up to the top for more stunning views. The snd off from this port was great though as we escorted out with a waterfall!

Last , but definitely not least, was the beautiful little town of Stavanger. So, so pretty and just a place to wander and take in the scenery.

All in all a wonderful cruise!
