Come Rain or Shine

British people are used to the rain, we get it often enough. So, when we book our holiday, we dream of warmer climes than what we have at home. With the odd exception, the dream is we wish and hope for Sunshine. So that when we ring back home and ask how the weather is we can boost that its 95’f and not a cloud in the sky. I personally become quite obsessed with watching the weather before my holidays. I download an app, I check of 4 or 5 different websites several times a day just to make sure its sunny for my arrival.

What happens though if your holiday isn’t blessed with great weather, what if the worst happens and its RAINS… * dramatic music*

Well, it doesn’t have to be all bad, believe me, my trip to Norway was plagued by rain. I must say though it didn’t spoil the holiday for one minute. In fact, the dark skies added to the dramatic scenery in Norway, It also meant I used more of the ship’s facilities.

Explore the Ship – this is your time to explore the ship, visit the areas you have yet to discover. A lot of ships offer some great tours ie of the gallery or maybe go on the tour of the bridge, or a behind the scenes tour. These tours are often at an extra cost and can book up early.

Watch a movie – most ships will offer a cinema showing all the latest movies. If you’re feeling brave and find a hidden little spot outside, enjoy your movie in the open outdoor screens. You might be the only one there if it’s raining, but it would be like your own private viewing!

Play a game – the ships entertainment team will have lots of games organised. From winning some money on Bingo or virtual horse racing. If you’re feeling braining test your wits on a general knowledge quiz.

Learn something new. You will find many classes onboard, such as a dance class, a language class or maybe you have always wanted to know how to shape a towel into a monkey or an elephant.

Also,If you pack correctly, the rain shouldn’t and doesn’t even have to interfere with your trip. Always pack clothes you can layers, a waterproof jacket and some comfy shoes. These are the main staples of my suitcase no matter why I go.

So whatever the weather, enjoy every minute of your cruise. 🙂

Keep Cruising.
