News just in that Cuba will not be featured on any Cruise itineraries
The U.S has issued a policy that will not allow US cruise companies to visit the Caribbean Island of Cuba.
The U.S Treasury office of Foreign Assets Control (try saying that after a drink!) has unveiled amendments to the Cuban Control Regulations. So basically, the U.S will no longer allow people to travel via passenger ships.
Royal Caribbean is the first to cancel the Cuban visits, which was quickly followed by Carnival and the rest to announce in days. Having to make quick alterations to their current itineraries. Most Cruise lines are offering compensation to the guests who are already booked. Cuba would have been a major Highlight on these trips, so I can only imagine many of unhappy customers.
Cuba being added to cruise itineraries was a great addition to the ‘Caribbean cruise’. In 2018 over 800,00 people arrived by cruise ships to visit the delights of Havana. So, Cuba Tourism is most definitely going to take a hit.
Other Cruise lines such as MSC are monitoring the situation and will announce their plans soon
Have you booked to go on a cruise that included Cuba?
